Shannon Pagdon

Shannon Pagdon is a doctoral student in social work whose research focuses on psychiatric survivor knowledge, coercive mental health policy, early psychosis services, and peer support. Their work examines how systems define care, risk, engagement, and recovery, particularly in contexts involving involuntary intervention and court-ordered treatment. Shannon uses critical, participatory, and creative approaches to study how mental health systems can either deepen mistrust and control or create conditions for autonomy, dignity, and meaningful support. They are especially interested in survivor-led alternatives to coercion, the politics of lived experience in research and services, and the role of peer support in transforming mental health systems.
