Neilah Rovinsky
Neilah Rovinsky (she/her) is a psychiatric survivor and a passionate advocate for systemic change and mad liberation. After spending over two years in an involuntary abusive residential facility from ages 16-18, Neilah emerged with a determination to challenge and transform systems of harm. She works for MadFreedom Advocates as a patient representative, where she supports people who are involuntarily institutionalized to understand their rights, file grievances, and self-advocate. She is also part of their advocacy and education team, where she educates the community on the harms of coercive “treatment,” forced institutionalization, restraints, seclusion, conversion therapy, and more, and supports community efforts to create alternatives based in relationships and liberation. She has previously worked on campaigns to abolish prisons and campaigns to support asylum seekers, and she believes movements must be intersectional because no one is free until all of us are free.
