Kelly Staples

Kelly was first introduced to Peer work in 2001 when she was hired to develop and manage a Peer Run Crisis Respite in her community. She was privileged to work closely with Shery Mead to grow this program. She was hired to work for the Office of Behavioral Health at the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Maine in 2006. She was initially hired to work in the Office of Consumer Affairs to develop and manage a certification program for Peer Support Specialists. While the office was eventually eliminated, Kelly’s position was not. Kelly is currently the chair of the DRSS for NASMHPD. She volunteers for her local Indivisible Action Committee and is heavily involved in local politics. Kelly lives in Maine and has three children, three grandchildren and a cat who’s love she is unworthy of.
