Jane Moore, J.D.

Jane Moore joined Disability Rights Maine (DRM) in 2017. She is an advocate for clients at Riverview Psychiatric Center (RPC) (a state hospital), in other facilities, and in the community, focused on housing and access to services that assist in greater independence. She brings a wealth of experience to DRM, most recently serving as a disability employment coordinator at the Department of Labor and as a peer support specialist at RPC.

Jane graduated from New York University School of Law and worked as a legal services attorney in Miami representing clients in public benefits and immigration cases. Realizing her passion to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities, Jane changed her area of practice to disability rights. She served as the first manager and attorney for the PAIR (Protection and Advocacy for Individual Rights) program at Equip for Equality, the Protection and Advocacy program for the state of Illinois. In recent years Jane has served on DRM's PAIMI Advisory Council and on RPC's human rights committee.

Jane is a person with a psychiatric label and has had personal experiences receiving services in both inpatient and outpatient settings during her recovery.
