Date: Thursday, 9/24
Time: 6-6:30pm
Guardianship remains one of the most consequential threats to autonomy that people with dis-ABILITIES face — and one of the least visible. In this short session, KK Kapp offers an overview of the advocacy work underway to protect the autonomy of people facing guardianship, drawn from collaborative efforts across the psychiatric survivor, Independent Living, and dis-ABILITY rights communities.
Special focus is given to Liberators for Justice (L4J) and the dedication of its founding members to this work — how partners came together in solidarity to stand with people under guardianship, uphold Olmstead and advance directives, and advance Supported Decision-Making as the alternative that honors self-determination. Attendees will leave with a clear picture of what is being built, who is building it, and where an interested Center or organization can plug in.
Nothing About Us, Without Us.
