Peter Davidson grew up in rural Minnesota. The family moved to the Boston area in the late sixties. After high school, he moved to the Northwest and graduated from the University of Washington with a major in Oceanography in 1983. From there he went to the U. of W. medical school and after graduation in 1985, he went back Cambridge for his psychiatric residency at Harvard Medical School's Cambridge Hospital program. Since his Community Psychiatry Fellowship at the U. of W. in 1990, he has been working as a clinical administrator of publicly funded mental health programs at many locations, primarily in Washington and then full time in Oregon after 1998.
