Transgender Children and Adolescents: Legal, Ethical and Therapeutic Issues

In this keynote, Professor Costello will provide a background legal discussion of parent-child consent issues, followed by an overview of issues regarding parent-child consent specific to a child’s possible transgender or gender-fluid identity. A discussion will follow of the unique issues regarding the above topics, for example consent to initiation of medication regimen to block or delay puberty. There will also be a discussion of accommodation issues in schools, camps, and generic children’s activities.
