[ The intersections of race, ethnicity, gender and disability have never been more apparent as communities grapple with increasing levels of chronic illness, poverty, unemployment,  criminal justice involvement, violence and trauma. There is still the tendency to turn to experts, and at best, view these social conditions as problems for an individual or a family to "get help" for. The value and priority for lived experience leadership in leading community and social change is a core principle of our liberation movements, yet continues to be forgotten during the most challenging times. Chacku Mathai will share some of the challenges and the ingredients for raising consciousness towards social justice and lived experience leadership in our communities.]
