Martha M. “Martie” Lafferty is Managing Attorney at Disability Law & Advocacy Center of Tennessee. Along with co-counsel, Martie represented the plaintiffs in Lane v. Tennessee, federal litigation that resulted in settlements ensuring accessibility of Tennessee’s judicial program to people with mobility disabilities. Martie is a contributing author to several legal encyclopedias, including the Encyclopedia of Civil Liberties, a three volume set published in 2005 by M.E. Sharpe, Inc. Martie received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Centre College, and her Masters in Theological Studies and J.D. degrees from Vanderbilt University. She is admitted to practice in Tennessee, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
