Claire Canestrino

Claire Canestrino is a 2025 J.D. candidate at UCLA School of Law. With the Law School's Veterans Legal Clinic she has investigated mental health law trends related to involuntary commitment, assisted outpatient treatment, and conservatorship. She conducted interviews with stakeholders in the implementation of California's CARE Act to assess the law's impact on Californians, and she co-authored a report on how VA Police practices can interfere with veterans' access to services. She worked as an intern with the Healthcare Rights & Access Section at the California Attorney General's office in Sacramento during the summer of 2023. She receiveda BS in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in Healthcare Management & Policy, Legal Studies & Ethics.
