Ranjini Acharya is an associate with K&L Gates LLP in Palo Alto, California, where her practice primarily focuses on intellectual property and commercial litigation. Ranjini was part of the trial team that successfully defended against a termination motion brought by the State of California in Coleman v. Brown, which concerned prisoners with psychiatric disabilities. Ranjini was also part of the team that spearheaded the subsequent negotiations to modify the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations’ use of force and related policies to accommodate the needs of prisoners with psychiatric disabilities. Prior to joining K&L Gates’ Palo Alto office, Ranjini worked as a solicitor in Sydney, Australia. She holds an LL.B. from the University of Sydney and an LL.M. from Stanford University.
